Fairy Garden

Sophia received these fairy houses for her birthday and all the kids had fun helping me set up our new fairy garden using things we found around the house and in our yard.

Fun with Printing

The other day I found a book at the library about printing with kids, and was inspired to have a little at home printing workshop with my boys.  We experimented with all sorts of things, vegetables, sea shells, lace.  My favorite was the larger Legos.  I am actually planning to do that along the bottom of a skirt.  But the boys loved using the Star Wars cookie cutters they got for Christmas. 

The purple is the print from the Legos.

All this printing got me excited to pull out my screen printing supplies again and so I screen printed this AT-AT.  Luke worked with me to layout patches of our prints on this shirt

Get them started early

I started teaching James basic weaving when was 4.  I know he's a boy, but they can be artistic, too.  James just sewed this ugly doll (with lots of help).

James is six now.

Luke sewed this pillow.  He just turned 5.  He chose the fabric, but I have mostly girlie fabrics to choose from.

Luke calls this a pin cushion and uses it as such.  It is certainly the world's largest. I call it a pillow.  

Piperoids and A Doll

My boys are loving these new Japanese straw robot things...Piperoids.  Luke loves building and James is very creative so these suit them both.  They come as a package of straws and you cut all the pieces and fit them inside each other.

A Doll!

 Something very new to me.  I have a baby shower to go to next Saturday.  An old friend, and I wanted to give her something special.  I am keeping it simple with long straight arms and legs and a triangle body/dress.  I was trying to decide between felt or yarn hair, but I think I have settled on felt.  

Super Hero Capes

I made these capes for James and Luke for Christmas, as part of my campaign to make as many homemade gifts as possible this year.  

They are lined with a very soft, furry fabric.  They are always stealing Sophia's baby blanket in the car to cuddle up with.  So this was my attempt to kill two birds with one stone.

Lego Cake

This may be the first sucess shaped birthday I've ever done.  Thanks to my friend Alexis on advice like freeze the cake before you cut and always do a crumb coat.  James wanted vanilla, strawberry and chocolate.  6 years old...I can't believe it!

I love my Boys, too!

I love designing girls dresses, but I love my boys, too!  Here are some projects I have made for them.  This Christmas I made them monster shirts.  They are really into their "ugly dolls" and they were excited to get these.  I bought a bunch of used tees.  To make them a little more interesting, I bought one short sleeve, and one long sleeve for each.  And then cut the sleeves, collar, and hem off of the long tees and sewed them onto the short sleeve tees.  I also bought extra tees to cut up for the monsters. All together I spent $8.

When we gave James and Luke bunkbeds, I made two of these pirate ship appliqued pillows.  I made this quilt based off a Pottery Barn quilt I saw at a friends house.
